Amanda sent a message to William Henry Bill Gates III Founder of Microsoft email address that said:
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am writing to tell you about an opportunity that I have to go to Africa on a short term mission trip.
I will be traveling to Uganda in June with Mercy for Mamas (www.mercyformamas.com), an organization that my former pastorâs wife, Melissa, started during the process of adopting their daughter Mercy. Mercy was orphaned when her mother died during childbirth. This, unfortunately, is a regular occurrence in Uganda, where an average of 100 women die in childbirth each week. Many women in Uganda canât afford to provide the supplies needed to give birth in clinics and hospitals, so they usually give birth at home or with a midwife; often in unsterile conditions which can lead to major complications and infections. Mercy for Mamas provides women in Uganda with âmama kitsâ that include everything they need to provide to the hospital in order to be admitted for childbirth, or to have a clean and safe home birth if they cannot make it to a hospital or clinic.
While we are in Uganda, we will distribute âmama kitsâ while visiting with expectant mothers. There are also many missionaries working in the region. Our group will spend time encouraging them in their work as well as providing community outreach to the people of Uganda.
Our trip is being funded completely on donations. If you would consider financially supporting me, that would be great. A little bit goes a long way so nothing is too small. If you would like more information about our trip and the things we will be doing, please let me know and I will be more than happy to talk about it with you!
Whether you are able to support me financially or not, I would appreciate your prayers as we prepare to go to Uganda. Please pray safe travels and happy hearts as God uses us to minister to the wonderful people of Uganda.
God has really been working on my heart to prepare me for this trip. Since I came back from the last âMercy for Mamasâ trip, I knew that I had to go again. I want to do something to make a difference in the lives of people who otherwise seem to have no hope. I am so excited to be able to once again deliver âmama kitsâ so that these future mothers can have a clean and safe delivery, see their children grow up, and witness first-hand Godâs love for them through the work of others who care about them.
Your support means the world to me. Thank you for taking time to read this letter and to pray about supporting me and this opportunity!
