The USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships is scheduled for June 28 through – John P Bilbrey email address

Cindy sent a message to John P. Bilbrey – President and Chief Executive Officer of The Hershey Company – Email Address that said:

The USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Track Field Championships is scheduled for June 28 through July 3 at Millersville University in Millersville, PA. Such an event can not be contested without certified officials. According to the most recent assignments, 120 officials are scheduled to spend a total of 682 man-days working this track field meet. Yes, that's a lot. But, what may surprise you is that no monetary compensation has been offered these officials. Lodging and meals are scheduled to be at Millersville University. But, no money has been made available for travel or incidentals. Many of these officials are taking off from their regular paying jobs. USATF typically does not pay officials for National-level meets. However, many times they get what they pay for. This is a bone of contention with many officials. Many of the best officials do not work meets that do not cover expenses. Even though assignments have been announced, some officials have said they would not work the meet if expenses are not covered. Many have a real concern that cafeteria food will not agree with them over the full six days. This is a real concern. Monetary compensation for expenses can be as little as $20 a day. With sponsors such as Hershey, officials would hope that would be possible. Please see what you can do.
