@TheHartford – Christopher Swift – I am filing this complaint regarding the handling of the claim for my Mother, Sherri

Sherri J Evans sent a message to Christopher Swift that said:

I am filing this complaint regarding the handling of the claim for my Mother, Sherri Evans, Sr. She was rear ended in may of 2017. It is document and recorded with the Hartford that she had issues with her wrist after the accident. My mother is disabled and there were a few days between her being able to go to the accident care in which they did find she had issues with her wrist and treated her. She had an issue with treatment resulting in the loss of pigment in her wrist where there was an injection. So the doctors told her to go to a specific dermatologist who was booked 8 months out. This whole time the claim was pending payment for her to finish up the appointments with the dermatologist. Fast forward to March of 2019, the claims specialist assigned to her case, Allison Haag, then states they will not pay the medical bills that have accumulated resulting from the accident that was of no fault of my mother. Mind you the Harford paid to get her car fixed. I find I disgusting she waited until the statues of limitations to say they were not paying. She argued there was a gap between the accident and the hospital visit, well I ask you if there is a statute of limitation of when one could go to the accident care? If not why drag this out over the course of 2 years. If there is a time period then case would have been closed, but there is not. And the letters that were sent to my mother requested her medical records to assure there was no prior wrist issues and her records show they were not. So today May 17, 2019, the claims specialist says they will pay 1000. How ill you pay 1000 but not the remaining medical bills. This is unethical business practices and disturbing. Allison knew if she requested the medical records a few months before the 2 year mark then my mother would not be able to obtain a lawyer. She knew if she waited until three days before this time period to say she was only paying 1000 and not the other medical bills then my mother would have no way to fix this issue. My question is this, Why are they not paying her medical bills in full. Why pay the dermatologist but not the doctor at accident care? If they felt none of her bills should be paid this doesn’t make logical sense.

UPDATE: to add insult to injury, the company called back to offer my mom 5k for pain and suffering. due to the complaint I sent to your company. We are not seeking pain and suffering we just want her medical bills relating to the accident to be paid. I also have further information regarding the 1k that the rep was trying to pay to Medicare and it was in regards to doctors visits unrelated which didn't make any sense.
