@thrivent – Bradford Hewitt – Dear Mr. Hewitt: We are writing your office to seek your assistance in resolving issues

Paul K Wehmeier sent a message to Bradford Hewitt that said:

Dear Mr. Hewitt:
We are writing your office to seek your assistance in resolving issues regarding our Horizon policies:
Policy numbers provided on request

We have tried to resolve this with local Thrivent representatives from the Guidance Team as well as Financial Associates. The last suggestion was that we purchase a new Thrivent policy which would cost us dollar for dollar of coverage. This did not make any financial sense to us.
When AAL introduced this universal life policy, the AAL representative assigned to our congregation sold this product as superior to the AAL whole life policies which our parents purchased when we were infants. (Both of us have had a policy our entire lives.) We were assured that if we switched to the Horizon policy we would have a guaranteed death benefit plus a retirement income. When we realized this was not going to happen we started working with our representative. AAL and then Thrivent staff changed over time and no one had a solution for us. We were given conflicting advise from one agent to the next over the years we tried to deal with this. Now we are being told our death benefits will soon expire.
We now face the real possibility of not having any death benefits let alone the retirement income that the AAL representative said we would realize. I am aware that we are not alone in this situation. I know there have been legal actions against the several insurers, including Thrivent, who sold universal life policies with false promises. I also realize that a complaint has been filed with the Insurance Commission of the State of Wisconsin per a lengthy article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
We would seek a permanent remedy in the form of a fixed death benefit for each policy.
