@TJXCo – Carol Meyrowitz – During my last 3-4 visits over the last week or 10 days I have NOT

Tommy Williams sent a message to Carol Meyrowitz that said:

During my last 3-4 visits over the last week or 10 days I have NOT been able to use my debit/credit card for purchases at Home Goods or Marshalls.

I should be more clear - it will not allow me to use my debt/credit card as a credit transaction leaving me forced to use debit with my PIN number. I do not like to use my PIN number for security reasons and want to have the added security of using VISA. Your stores are also NOT set up with the new gold chip card transactions either.

The staff and associates I dealt with last eve were terrific - no so much in previous visits.

I have had to stand there for 10 or 15 minutes in each case while they tried to resolve the Credit Card option issue.

I have been embarrassed by 2 associates that with an above average voice claimed my card was no good and/or rejected multiple times in ear shot of other staff and customers. To have it implied I could not afford air otherwise was unable to make a purchase was pretty humiliating.

My debit/credit card is tied to my business checking account that contains ample funds was not the issue. I use it multiple times every day. Its only your stores refuse me the option to use as credit. Standard Wells Fargo Bank credit debit card with an account I\'ve had for 30+ years.

What seems clear is that your POS system is set up to refuse credit card transactions if it detects the card is a credit/debit card. I am sure there is some financial benefit to your business for doing so but... denying me the right to choose my own method of payment for your companies financial benefit or gain is unfair.

My understanding is that your POS is required to have the "gold chip" option available already. It is also my understanding that I have the legal right to choose my own method of payment as offered - NOT restricted at your discretion for your own financial benefit at will and without notice.

I shop your stores often - multiple visits per week at times. I am pretty offended by the treatment I\'ve received and by your stores POS system failures/ restrictions or set up.

Feel free to contact if you have any questions. I will be submitting a complaint to the State Consumer Protection Office and well as the Consumer Financial Protection agency if the issue isn\'t addressed within the next 24 hours.

Sincerely, Tommy Williams
