To the Chief Executive Officer of Hospital Corporation of America, R. Milton Johnson
For myself and my family’s safety concern, I wanted you to know publicly what happened.
On July 29, 2015, an insult happened at my workplace, Oak Hill Hospital, in which I was maliciously verbally attacked and discriminated against by the director of the Parallon branch at Oak Hill Hospital, Theresa Eatough, and my manager Elizabeth Santiago.
In that department, there is only one person who seems always to know the truth, with no question asked and corporate allows her to continue doing just that. Harassing, discriminating, making up lies against me to corporate, diminishing my work, and destroying my character, that is what she is doing.
I did file a complaint with HR, administration, and corporate’s department of ethics and compliance; however, no one believed me, due to the lack of explicit evidence even though there were three people in the office at that time, my director, my manager, and myself. Per corporate, those two employees, my director, and my manager denied what happened and stood by each other. Per corporate, after investigation, my director stated that I was upset because they would not allow me to go pick up my children from school any longer, which is strange because I have picked up my children from school since they were both two and seven, and it is nine years later, they tried to attack me for doing so. I usually picked up my children during my scheduled lunch time, not on the company'€™s time when I was supposed to be working.
It's not the first time this happened to me, I just always focused on what needed to be done at my job, but, this time, the director went too far; the hostile environment, retaliation, and ambushing me where there were no witnesses, and threatening the safety of my children simply because I asked for a review of my salary. During that time, she told me I wasn'™t allowed to contact HR to ask for a review of my salary. I'™ve been working for HCA'€™s Oak Hill Hospital for nine years. In fact, because of what happened, that continues to affect my health because of the verbal abuse and harassment in that room for more than two hours; and I've learned from my specialist that I cannot continue to work any longer because of the deterioration of my bladder from this event. Moreover, I kept telling Theresa and Elizabeth during the insult that I could not breathe due to my asthmatic condition and I was having bladder spasms, but she continued with the insult. She put my life in danger fully knowing I have two children, an eleven-year-old and sixteen-year-old, so if anything were to happen to them, there is no way anyone can claim self-defense.
The reason I am reporting this is because of the way I was threatened by the Director at a point to have some concern for the safety of myself and my family. At this point, I am tired of fearing for the safety of my children.
The reason why I am contacting you directly in this manner is because I want to arrange an official meeting to better discuss how this problem will be handled.
My intention is not to disgrace the company name but it is to restore it and erase the blemish of an action that has taken place. This is also about the integrity of the company. Both of their actions have violated my 13th Amendment right. I have been waiting for a solution to this problem since July 29 2015 and I cannot wait any longer.
