Deborah Meyers MD FRACP FACC sent a message to Stuart Parker that said:
Sir- I am a front line doc. I moved to Oregon to help the University of Oregon with an important cardiac program that previously got into trouble and had to close.
In order to do this work I need to rent my home in California which is insured by USAA currently for three years while I work out of state. I have been informed that while USAA can provide insurance to me currently as an owner ( my rates were estimated to double this year) that your company
will refuse to insure my home if I have a tenant in place while I do this important work.
I do live in a high fire danger area but the notion that the home is more endangered by a forest fire while occupied with tenants (another doctor actually) is nonsensical.
This makes a mockery of the claims stated on your website makes that your mission is to serve the community and that it is more important now than ever as our members deal with COVID-19.
On the West Coast we are dealing with an insurance crisis as well as COVID-19.
