Bill sent a message to Jeff M. Fettig, Chairman and CEO ,Whirlpool CorporationEmail Address that said:
We purchased a Maytag Washer/Dryer combo and qualified for the $250 rebate being offered by Whirlpool. What we got was a $100 prepaid card that only served to embarrass us and waste our entire day of shopping at a mall 5 hours away. When I complained to Whirlpool, we were told that we had to take this up with the company that processes your rebates. NO! Our agreement was with WHIRLPOOL. It is up to WHILPOOL to insure payment of rebates are made. It is NOT my job to chase it down.
The law is clear - any company that offers a rebate is responsible for getting them paid, regardless of what entity they hire to do it for them.
Whirlpool owes us $150. We have already filed a complaint with the BBB, and will soon file with the FTC if WHIRLPOOL does not take care of this immediately. We are also prepared to sue for damages - that's TREBLE damages under tort law, and damages would far exceed the $150 you owe us.
And we will not hesitate to spread this all over social media - we are experts in SM, and we have several websites, over a dozen well-read blogs, and thousands of Twitter followers.
If I sound angry, it's because this is the SECOND time Whirpool has tried to cheat us out of the rebate.
