Daniela sent a message to Carol Meyrowitz President and CEO, TJX Companies, Inc. – email address that said:
Yesterday, I went into my local TJMax store in NOrthbrook, IL to return items I had bought recently. I had my receipt and all the items had the original pricing tags attached.
I was told (rather rudely by the store manager Chris) that because it was over the 30 day limit I could not get a credit on my credit card.
I had just returned from Europe after an extended stay that put me over the 30 day limit. If I had been in town, I would have, but was NOT! I explained this to the manager but she just said cannot be done and walked away.
I find it rather unfriendly customer service oriented, I normally return things within the time period, but in this instance I was not in this country to be able to do this.
In addition, when I asked the salesperson/cashier for the managers last name. I was told she did not know it and it was just Chris. I find this rather strange and is almost as if the manager wanted to hide from doing her job.
I work with software and information technology and I know perfectly well that the system can be overridden to process this hiccups as they occur by the manager on duty. An exception in this case should have been granted for good customer service. This is certainly a way to lose customers when accommodations should be allowed!
