André Calantzopoulos has been the Chief Executive Officer of Philip Morris International, Inc. since May 8, 2013. Mr. Calantzopoulos served as the Chief Operating Officer of Philip Morris International, Inc. from March 28, 2008 to May 8, 2013. He joined PMI in 1985 as Business Development Analyst in the Business Development Department. In 1987, he transferred to the Area Operations Department. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Philip Morris International, Inc. since March 2002. In 1990, he served as General Manager of Philip Morris Finland and has served a number of general management positions. In 1991, Mr. Calantzopoulos served as General Manager for PMI in Czechoslovakia, where he played a key role in the acquisition of Tabak a. s. in 1992. Since 1992, he served as Area Director of Central Europe, covering the former Yugoslavia, Romania and Bulgaria and, in 1993, Area Director of Hungary Central Europe South. Since 1995, Mr. Calantzopoulos served as Area Director of Poland Hungary, he was instrumental in PMI's acquisition of local tobacco company ZPT in Krakow, Poland. Since 1996, he served as Managing Director of Poland, where he successfully managed the integration and change management process of PMI's largest acquisition in Central Europe. Since February 1999, he served as the President of PMI's Eastern Europe Region. Before joining PMI, he served as a Design Engineer for the automotive industry. Mr. Calantzopoulos has been a Director of Philip Morris International, Inc. since May 8, 2013. Previously, he served as Director of Philip Morris International Inc. until March 27, 2008. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
