Mr. Joseph Alvarado, also known as Joe, has been the Chief Executive Officer at Commercial Metals Company since September 1, 2011 and its President since April 6, 2011. He began his career at Inland Steel in 1976, and rose through a variety of finance, sales and operating positions before leaving in 1997 as President of Inland Steel's Long Product Division. He also served as the President of the Inland Steel Bar Company. Mr. Alvarado subsequently served as an Executive Vice President at Birmingham Steel Corporation. Mr. Alvarado has been the Chairman of Commercial Metals Company since January 01, 2013. Mr. Alvarado has been a Director of Spectra Energy Corp. since July 8, 2011. He has been a Director of Commercial Metals Company since February 2012 and previously served as its Director since September 1, 2011. He holds an M.B.A. from Cornell University in 1976 and a B.A. in Economics from University of Notre Dame in 1974.
