Bruce F. Palmer - Founder & CEO
I founded Palmer Financial, LLC to put into practice my philosophy of people-first planning. 38 years in this business has taught me that I can’t predict markets or make the economy do what I want. What I can do is learn about my clients’ hopes, fears, and priorities and build strategies to help them afford the life they desire.
I began my career nearly four decades ago with Prudential Insurance. I became an independent insurance agent and financial advisor because I wanted to get away from corporate ties and proprietary products. Being independent gives me the freedom to put my clients at the center of everything I do and create personalized strategies.
After 26 years as a sole practitioner, I formally partnered with my son Michael to build Palmer Financial, LLC. Together, we work to educate our clients and help them take control of their financial lives. What I love best about my work is that I get to sit down with old friends and talk about our families and the hobbies we enjoy. Many of my early clients are still with me, and I am honored to have been part of their lives for so long.
I was born and raised on a farm 30 miles south of Erie. I came to town when I was 18 to start a career in radio and never left the area. My wife and I live in Erie and we spend as much time as possible with our adult children and two grandsons. In my free time, I also enjoy jogging, biking with my wife, and playing a few rounds of golf.
Palmer Financial, LLC was founded in 2002 by Douglas R. Palmer, a CPA with two decades of finance and accounting experience. Mr. Palmer’s experience has been in private sector CFO, Controller and Accounting roles and spent many years at a “Big Four” public accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
We strive to be the “finance department” solution for growing companies in the Washington, DC area. We are passionate about client service and strive to add value on a daily basis. The company keeps a competitive advantage by purposely serving a small number of companies and maintaining a very high level of personal service.
We know that eventually your company will grow and need a full-time accounting person. Before the start of our engagements, we clearly identify that changeover point and plan accordingly with you for this transition.
Together we will develop a plan and begin to execute for future strategic alternatives. Our company has experience in both and buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions. It is important that companies plan for future transactions (rather than being “caught off guard”).
