James A. Squires, also known as Jim, has been the Chief Executive Officer of Norfolk Southern Corporation since June 1, 2015 and its President since June 1, 2013, and has been its Chairman of the Board since October 1, 2015. Mr. Squires served as Executive Vice President of Administration at Norfolk Southern Corp. from August 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013. He served as the Chief Financial Officer at Norfolk Southern Corp., since July 1, 2007 and also served as its Executive Vice President of Finance since April 1, 2007. Mr. Squires served as Senior Vice President of Law at Norfolk Southern Railway Co. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President of Financial Planning of Norfolk Southern Corp., from April 1, 2006 to April 1, 2007, Senior Vice President of Law from October 1, 2004 to April 1, 2004 prior to which he served as its vice president of Law from December 1, 2003 to October 1, 2004. He also served as the Senior General Counsel of Norfolk Southern Corp. Mr. Squires joined Norfolk Southern in 1992 as an attorney and served in positions of increasing responsibility. He has been a Director of Norfolk Southern Corporation since January 21, 2014. He received a degree from Amherst College and a law degree from University of Chicago.
