Ms. Johnson, I am a probate attorney in Wooster, Ohio with a serious Fidelity customer service problem.
Our client died in January, and we have been trying unsuccessfully to obtain the beneficiary information for the account. If there is no beneficiary designation, we will need to file a probate estate. We have written letters, spent hours on the phone--to no avail. After 5 weeks, I was able to speak with someone in Inheritor Services who assured me that neither the decedents SSN or account number were in the system. I held a copy of the 3/31/18. statement in my hand, which she instructed me to sent to Research Services. We have heard nothing.
I realize that an account of $325,000 or so is not very much for a company your size, but it is a lot for this family. The decedent's daughter (whom I suspect to be the beneficiary) is coming to Ohio from Texas this week and we would like to have an answer for her.
