Gerard M. Anderson, also known as Gerry, serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Detroit Edison Company. Mr. Anderson has been the Chief Executive Officer of DTE Energy Company since October 2010 and served as its President from August 1, 2004 to December 31, 2013. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer for several of DTE Energy's non-regulated subsidiaries, including DTE Electric Company, DTE Biomass Energy, DTE Energy Services, DTE Coal Services and DTE Energy Trading and leads the efforts to broaden the role DTE Energy plays in providing energy and services to large energy users. He has been the Architect and Leader of DTE Energy Co.'s strategy to develop its non-regulated businesses and its focus on cost and operational excellence in the utility businesses. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of DTE Energy Co. since October 31, 2005 and its Group President of Energy Resources since May 31, 2001. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of DTE Energy Resources at DTE Energy Co. He joined Detroit Edison, a subsidiary of DTE Energy and electric utility - as Vice President of Non-Utility Business since 1993. Since April 1997, Mr. Anderson served as an Executive Vice President of DTE Energy. He served as Senior Consultant at McKinsey Co., Inc. from 1988 to 1993. From 1986 to 1987, he served with an economic forecasting group, The Research Seminar in Quantitative Economics, and the U.S. Congressional Budget Office. He worked at R.T.K.L Associates, Inc. and The Collaborative, Inc., served as an Engineer and Project Manager for these two architectural/engineering firms, from 1981 to 1985. He has been the Chairman of DTE Energy Co. since September 12, 2011. He serves as the Chairman of DTE Electric Company and the Michigan Greenways Initiative. He serves as Vice Chairman of The Nature Conservancy, Michigan chapter. He served as the Chairman of the Center for Energy and Economic Development. He serves as a Director of The Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. He has been a Director of The Andersons Inc. since December 19, 2008. He serves as a Director of Business Leaders for Michigan. DTE Energy's largest operating subsidiaries are DTE Energy Electric Company (formerly Detroit Edison), an investor-owned electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in Southeastern Michigan; and DTE Gas Company (formerly Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon)), a natural gas utility serving 1.2 million customers in Michigan. The two companies merged in 2001.[4]

The name "DTE" is taken from the stock symbol for the former Detroit Edison, DTE.[5]
